Characteristic features of the Czech republic

There are about 10 million inhabitants in the Czech republic. Typical Czech dance is polka and waltz. Czech people are keen on listening to music, too: dance, hip hop, electro – house, metal, trash metal, rock, pop etc. Czech people go to the theatres to see a play very often. Czech nation has famous National Theatre in Prague. Prague is the capital and is the largest, about one million people live there.

Our capital is Prague. Our largest cities are Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc. We have big rivers, their names are the Vltava and the Labe. In the Czech republic there are a lot of historical buildings and monuments. There are also famous theatres (The Czech National Theatre) and churches but also very nice nature.  Czech people usually live in a detached house or block of flats.

The Czech republic is country in the centre of Europe. The capital is Prague. The biggest cities are Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc, Plzeň, Zlín and České Budějovice. The Czech republic has three parts: Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia. The most important rivers are the Labe, the Vltava, the Odra, the Dyje and the Sázava. Our national dance is called polka.

Music in my life

For me there is only one thing to do when I've got a lot of homework, bad marks or too many activities. I listen to music. Last year I started to prefer harder music like hard rock and metal.  This is because I am playing the drums and metal music has the best drum solos. In a lot of songs we can hear impossible drum compilations and many styles of drumming.

The main bands that I am listening to are As I Lay Dying, Slipknot, and System of a Down.  I also used to listen to Linkin Park, but they have changed their style of playing and now I don't like it very much.

I also changed my look to fit my interest in this sort of music because sometimes I go to metal-bars and there everyone wears black leather. It's not only because of the people, but also because I like this look.

In the Czech Republic there are a lot of metal concerts and festivals. One of them was Sound of Darkness in Prague, and the ticket cost about 800 crowns.

I also like summer festivals like Masters of Rock and Colours of Ostrava. Czechs don't have many metal bands, so I listen to bands from other countries, mostly from Finland and America.

Many young people don't like metal, because they think that it is just screaming and nothing else. I think these people only hear the screaming, and do listen to the other elements of the music which are really beautiful.

I hope that more people will understand my delight and they will stop sending me away for my love of metal music.

COMENIUS Schulpartnerschaft - Austausch Herbst 2011

Der dritte Schüleraustausch im Rahmen des aktuellen Programms ist für 23. bis 29. Oktober 2011 geplant. Treffpunkt ist diesmal Cefalù, Italien.

We intend to continue our joint effort of creating a multilingual dictionary (Czech, English, German, and Italian) with audio support. Users will be able to have a word spoken to them while browsing the dictionary. By using multi-media features like this, we hope to enhance the usability and benefits of conventional dictionaries.

Comenius in Odry: Schöne Zeit voll von Erlebnissen

Schöne Zeit, die wir mit deutschen und italienischen Schülern aus Partnerschulen erlebten, war voll von Erlebnissen. Wir trafen uns nicht nur in unserer Schule, sondern wir besuchten auch kulturell wichtige und bekannte Orte, z. B. Hukvaldy, Olomouc.
Tschechische Projektgruppen stellten bekannte tschechische Persönlichkeiten, und zwar Leoš Janáček und Jan Ámos Komenský. Deutsche Schüler bereiteten Volkstänze in Dirndln und die italienische Gruppe ein modernes Lied.
In Gesprächen konnte ich mein Englisch verbessern und viel Neues kennen lernen, z. B. wie ist das Wetter in Italien, welche Fächer lernen die deutschen Schüler, dass ihnen die Tschechische Republik gefällt und das sie gerne wieder kommen.
Es tat uns leid, dass wir und verabschieden mussten, denn die Zeit, die wir zusammen verbrachten, war unvergesslich.

Nádherný čas, který jsme prožili spolu s německými a italskými studenty z partnerských škol, byl plný zážitků. Setkávali jsme se nejen ve škole, ale mohli jsme také navštívit kulturně důležitá a známá místa, např. Hukvaldy, Olomouc.
České projektové skupiny představily známé české osobnosti, a to Leoše Janáčka a Jana Ámosa Komenského. Němečtí žáci si připravili lidové tance v krojích a italská skupina moderní rapovou píseň.
V rozhovorech jsem se zdokonalovala v anglickém jazyce a dozvěděla jsem se spoustu zajímavých informací, například o počasí v Itálii, o některých německých studentech a jejich studiu, zjistila jsem, že se jim Česká republika velmi líbí a moc rádi by zase někdy k nám přijeli.
Loučení bylo smutné, neboť to byly pro nás příjemné dny, na které nezapomeneme.

Comenius in Prag: Stadt vieler Sprachen und Baudenkmäler

I was asked to become a part of the international Comenius Project to be the company to the trip to Prague. Even though I was not involved in this project, I did not hesitate to join and I am really glad I did so.

We travelled by train and it was pleasant but too short, because we had a little time to chat with Italian teachers. I learned a lot of information about Sicily, about Sicilian weather, people, habits, present writers, real Italian pizza and espresso.

We were accommodated in a beautiful hotel near the Prague centre. In fact, we lived with Italian students and teachers on the same floor, so we had more time to work out our friendship, as we had the chance to spend a lot of time talking while various situations, such as having breakfast.

The programme prepared by our headmistress was demanding but amazing. We visited the most attractive sights, such as St. Wenceslas Square, The National Theatre, we saw the night Prague, The Prague Castle and The Old Town Square. Our headmistress had a nice presentation about all those sights in German, so the Czech students and I got the opportunity to refresh our German language knowledge.

The Saturday morning was full of bad mood. It was the part of our leaving and saying goodbye to our Italian friends. Some tears also appeared but no one was surprised by that fact –the Italian students and teachers were really amazing and we felt impressed by their friendly characters. We are really looking forward to seeing you all again!

If I was asked to evaluate the Comenius Project, I would say it was a positive experience because we were enabled to practise English and German language, to meet new friends from Germany and Sicily and to get new life experience. Therefore I am really glad to join a project which is meaningful and is beneficial for students and teachers.

V rámci mezinárodního projektu Comenius jsem byla oslovena, abych se jako doprovod zúčastnila výletu do Prahy. Ač jsem nebyla zapojena do tohoto projektu, neváhala jsem ani chvilku, čehož jsem následně vůbec nelitovala.
Cesta vlakem byla příjemná a vlastně velmi krátká, neboť jsme se s italskými učitelkami sotva stihly rozpovídat. Nabyla jsem mnoho informací o Sicílii, o počasí, lidech, tamějších zvycích, současných autorech, pravé italské pizze a pravém espressu…
Ubytováni jsme byli v pěkném hotelu asi 30 minut od centra Prahy. Bydleli jsme na jednom patře s italskými studenty a učitelkami, naše vztahy se tedy více utužovaly, neboť jsme měli šanci trávit společný čas povídáním například u společných snídaní.
Program, který si pro nás připravila paní ředitelka, byl náročný, ale krásný. Navštívili jsme turisty vyhledávaná místa, jako je například Václavské náměstí, Národní divadlo, výhled na noční Prahu, dále pak Pražský hrad či Staroměstské náměstí. Paní ředitelka si připravila krásný výklad v němčině ke všem památkám, čeští studenti i já jsme tak měli možnost oprášit si znalosti německého jazyka.
V sobotu po společné snídani pak nastalo loučení s italskými studenty. Tato část byla poněkud smutná a uplakaná, ale nebylo se čemu divit – italští studenti a učitelky byli opravdu kouzelní a svou přátelskou povahou nám učarovali. Nezbývá nám než těšit se na to, že se brzy uvidíme!
Celkově hodnotím projekt Comenius velmi pozitivně, neboť nám umožnil procvičit si jazyk anglický i německý, seznámit se s novými přáteli z Německa a Itálie a získat nové životní zkušenosti. Jsem tedy velmi ráda, že jsem se mohla zúčastnit něčeho, co je smysluplné a je přínosem pro studenty i učitele.

Comenius Partnerschaft: Eigenen Horizont erweitern

Diese Tage gefielen mir wirklich. Ich war glücklich, dass ich diese Zeit mit tollen Schülern aus fremden Ländern verbrachte. Unsere neuen Freunde waren nett und lustig. Wir lernten Neues über das Leben in Italien und Deutschland kennen. Es war überraschend, dass sie auch am Samstag in die Schule gehen, aber sie haben drei Monate Ferien. Wir können uns auf Besuch unserer Partnerschule in Sizilien freuen.

Vor allem hatten wir die Möglichkeit uns besser kennenzulernen und jeden Tag in Deutsch und Englisch zu sprechen. Wir erfuhren interessante Informationen aus fremden Kulturen, z. B. dass es in Italien eine breite Notenskala gibt. Wir befreundeten uns mit neuen Leuten, mit denen wir im Kontakt per Internet bleiben können und ich freue mich auf das Zusammentreffen in Italien.

Diese Woche gefiel mir sehr. Wir lernten neue Leute kennen und ich hoffe, sie einmal wieder zu sehen. Ich möchte wieder so eine schöne Zeit erleben.
